The International Day of Friendship is a yearly celebration which is held on 30th July by the United Nations around the world to promote the important role that plays the friendship in spreading peace and happiness. It is celebrated on different dates in different countries. History of International Day of Friendship The Joyce Hall founder of Hallmark cards was originated Friendship Day in 1930; it is intended to be 2 August and a day when people celebrate their friendships by holiday enjoying. After this, the idea of the International Day of Friendship was first given by the Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho on 20 July 1958 during in a dinner with friends in Puerto Pinasco, a town on the River Paraguay, which is near around 200 miles north of Asuncion, Paraguay. After this humble meeting of friends, the World Friendship campaign was created. This World Friendship Campaign is a foundation which works to promote the friendship and companionship in all human beings, without any race, color, religion, or country. After this, in Paraguay, the International Day of Friendship has been celebrated every year on 30 July and as time pass, International Day of Friendship is also adopted by many countries. On April 27, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly announced that 30 July as an official International Day of Friendship with the idea to promote the friendship between the people of the city, countries, and cultures and to spread peace all around the world. However, in some countries, Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August and every year, in Oberlin, and Ohio Friendship Day is celebrated on 8th April. How People celebrated Friendship Day? Many governments and nongovernmental organizations, and community groups hold events and activities to promote the International Day of Friendship and to spread peace. The United Nations also held many events activities and initiatives which promotes the mutual understanding, reconcilement, and unity. People also give Friendship Day cards with each other to share their feelings and promote love and peace. Educational and public raise awareness activities also held on this International Day of Friendship. People also share Friendship Day images on social media sites. Is it a Public Holiday? The United Nations International Day of Friendship is an annual observance and it is not a public holiday.
